CORE: Dragon Heartstring*
LENGTH: 16 and 3/4 inches, hard
STAIN: Duo: Dark Handle, Light Wand

Red Oak
You will often hear the ignorant say that red oak is an infallible sign of its owner’s hot temper. In fact, the true match for a red oak wand is possessed of unusually fast reactions, making it a perfect duelling wand. Less common than English oak, I have found that its ideal master is light of touch, quick-witted and adaptable, often the creator of distinctive, trademark spells, and a good man or woman to have beside one in a fight. Red oak wands are, in my opinion, among the most handsome.

Dragon
As a rule, dragon heartstrings produce wands with the most power, and which are capable of the most flamboyant spells. Dragon wands tend to learn more quickly than other types. While they can change allegiance if won from their original master, they always bond strongly with the current owner.
The dragon wand tends to be easiest to turn to the Dark Arts, though it will not incline that way of its own accord. It is also the most prone of the three cores to accidents, being somewhat temperamental.

My Own Personal Wand-Making History...

I made my first wand out of paper and hot glue. It was horribly ugly, and I soon hid it away in a musty old cupboard under the stairs in favor of my second wand, made of wood. It was quite nifty, and I decided to make another wand, this one a bit fancier. In total, I made about 9 different wands of all types in anticipation of the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Pt. 2 midnight showing. I was looking forward to dressing up (and forcing all my not-as-geeky loved ones to as well), and so I was sure to have a wand for everyone. I also had house ties, shopping bag purses, necklaces, earrings, and a host of other paraphernalia for the not-as-prepared in my little group. Oh, yes, we did the thing right that night. After much prodding by my friends and family, I've chosen to recreated some of my (and their) wand designs for you here on Etsy. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do! Might I make a little suggestion? Try running around the house in your socks waving your wand madly at your husband/wife/mom/dog and yell out spells. It is absolutely wonderful stress relief (and you can't resist casting a spell with a wand in your hand!)

EVERY ONE of my wands is unique, no two will be alike. They are shaped and sanded by hand, then decorated in various ways, stained, and sealed. Most will have slight variations, irregularities, and/or small flaws that give them that "Fresh from a fight with a Death Eater" look about them. :o)
