This is a circa 1917 two tiered letter basket made by the Shaw Walker Company from Muskegeon, MI. These files have dovetailed corners, the original felt bottoms, and are made of very pretty grained white oak. This stacked system was a new feature for the company in their 1917 catalog that allowed the office worker to add as many steel corner posts as desired to create a letter tray with as many tiers as they wanted. This one has added metal tags on the solid ends that are embossed with the words "Typing" on top and "Filing" on the lower basket.
Dimensions: 12 1/2 inches long x 10 inches wide x 8 1/2 inches tall.
