This is a salt and pepper shaker set made of hand-turned wood. The wood was painted in the Hinderloopen art style. Hinderloopen is a city in Fryslan in the northern part of the Netherlands. The style can be identified by its flowers and scrolls. The bottoms have plastic stoppers for easy refilling.

About Hindeloopen art: "Hindeloopen art is a type of traditional decorative painting originated in the northern province of Friesland, The Netherlands.

It is a form of folk art painted by the maritime community of Hindeloopen, (a small town on the Zuiderzee). During times of bad weather when there was no fish to sell, sailors/fisherman would turn to painting as a way to pass the time and make some money."

Shipping fragile items can be expensive! I try to price my items fairly, but sometimes the shipping looks high. Believe it or not, I frequently am footing some of that cost of shipping despite the seemingly high cost. Keep in mind, I have to package fragile items with a lot of packing so that I can assure that it gets to you whole. That adds weight and bulk, which adds cost.

I also prefer to use priority mail. My experience with this service has been far more positive than ground shipping (many items have been broken despite my packaging care). Also, the cost is often comparable. If you are interested in risking it and taking a possible reduction in cost with the risk of breakage, send me a message and I'll work with you!
