This beautiful white English porcelain tureen with a gently fluted lid, ornate handles, and gold bands was manufactured around the 1900s in England under the name of Rosalind.

I have used this bowl every Thanksgiving for my pumpkin soup, and have also used it to serve pot roast, goulash and countless other soups or stews. I always get a laugh and several snide comments as this beautiful soup tureen once served as a Victorian chamber pot!

Yes, it was made to slide under a bed for those nights when the sleeper could not make it out of doors to the outhouse! I doubt it saw much use as it was intended as I remember my great grandmother always used it for a serving dish. But she did tell me the history of its intended use, which she thought was quite amusing.

Now that I don't have big holiday dinners, its time to pass this on to someone else who can enjoy a good laugh while serving- perfect for when you have a favorite boss or in-law over for dinner!

The bowl holds 10-12 cups comfortably. Both lid and bowl are in very good condition, no chips cracks or hairline fractures. Only sign of use is some wearing off of the thin gold line along outside of lid & on handle.

Dimensions: BOWL is approx. 6" high x 8.5" wide; LID IS 8 1/2" Tall x 10" wide.
