Large left handed wooden dipper ladle carved from salvaged Plum wood. Shipping on this item is free till the end of August on all orders to the U.S and Canada. This is a 14 inch ladle for serving soup and the like carved from some salvaged Plum wood I got from a neighboring town. The bowl is 3 inches wide and very deep. The bowl has a slightly curved rim and is about the size of a baseball. It probably holds about a half a cup. I was splitting up some plum logs looking for a fairly straight piece so of course every piece had a curve to it. I put two pieces aside that had a sharp bend I thought would be perfect for a ladle. I made this out of one of those pieces. I carved another one from the other piece about 2 weeks ago. This one is almost a mirror image of the other one. This one is more of a left handed tool. The bowl bends to the right making it much more comfortable to use with the left. This one has a straight handle set at an angle to the bowl. It is pleasantly asymmetrical and has a very lithe feel to it. I think this is one of my best ladles ever. Finished with beeswax and mineral oil.

This utensil is "pre-washed" so to speak. The grain has been raised with water during the finishing process to remove any loose fiber ends so the spoon will remain smooth after you use it.

Care is easy, just wash in hot soapy water, towel dry, and apply some mineral oil or walnut oil every couple of weeks or you can buy some of our spoon oil finish which is Beeswax and mineral oil. A 4 oz. jar lasts for a long time and it will help to keep your spoon looking and feeling good for many years.
