Ms. Jeannie has very fond memories of watching her mother sew clothes when she was a little girl. Mountains of materials, pin cushions, measuring tapes and the sewing machine just singing away like some sort of magic genie.

Ms. Jeannie herself is not very gifted in the sewing department, so she is always impressed when anyone can take a roll of fabric and turn into something wonderfully wearable.

This original vintage 1940s pattern from The Fashion Service in New York City is a little slice of sewing Americana. Contained within its original hand addressed mailing envelope is the pattern for a collarless 3/4 sleeve dress with contrasting appliques (pattern 3143) and the original tissue paper cut outs, pinned and ready to be put to work.

About the package: The envelope is wonderfully aged and crinkled. it measures 8.5" inches length x 4.5 inches height.

The pattern directions measure 15" inches (length) by 10.75" inches (height) and is surprisingly in great shape minus a couple of small rips around the edges.

The paper tissue cutouts are all in good shape and seem to be in useable condition.

If you have any questions, please ask, as Ms. Jeannie is not a sewer herself and might have overlooked something important to convey!
