I grew up with "Mashiko Yaki" items all around me, as my father was an avid collector of a wide array of Japanese art forms. The young, budding "Modernist" in me just knew that the Mashiko items were the coolest things he collected! The most prized examples were hand made by the Mashiko studio master, Shoji Hamada.

This "Mashiko" decorative plate is from my own collection. This plate had been marked as "Mashiko" by the owner of the shop, who had an extensive selection of vintage Mashiko pieces for sale at the time. He and his shop are long gone now, but you are in luck with this lovely minimalist and modernist example of Mashiko studio pottery!

Approx. 10" (25cm) in diameter and in mint condition.
