SUBJECT: A wonderful 120-year-old bit of antique equine ephemera, this is a large trade card for McLaughlin's XXXX Coffee. Published by Knapp & Co. of New York, this trade card was one of 15 lithographic artist cards contained in a collectible set for customers who loved their McLaughlin's XXXX Coffee. And who wouldn't? That coffee was glazed with corn starch and re-clarified sugar. I can't even imagine how it tasted. Such a sweet image of a boy in equestrian finery standing beside his placid black - er, coffee colored pony. It's a delight.

HORSE NOTES: Yes, a kind pony in English tack with a mid-length banged (cut short) tail, but how ever did he manage to move on those teeny-tiny hooves?

ITEM DETAILS: This 1891 trade card measures 4.25 by 7 inches. It is in very good condition for its age and travels, with bright colors and text, but customary edge wear, corner creasing, and overall softening of the card stock.

SHIPPING & HANDLING: Paper items are wrapped with care in acid-free sleeves, placed between sheets of cardboard and shipped in secure packaging within two business days of payment.

VINTAGE: All vintage and antique items have unique histories and are offered for sale in exactly the condition they were found. They are sold “AS IS.”
