Here is a delightful & colorful muslin book by Saalfield from 1904 titled "Baby's Friends" that is very rare. Contains beautifully illustrated limerick type stories of children around the world.

Cover is marked: "Saalfield's Musline Books, Akron, O., The Saalfield Pub. Co. Chicago, New York, Copyright 1904 by The Saalfield Pub. Co.

This book is in good, as found vintage condition. The colors & text are still very bright, although the muslin cloth has darkened from age & dust. Approx. 7 3/4" x 9" in size with 16 illustrated pages including front & back covers. There are vertical creases that occurred during storage, frayed edges & a few small dark brown stains. Please zoom photos for details.

Here's a summary of how each page begins:

A jolly young "tar" Sailed from afar. . .
Ho, Ho! the circus is coming to town!
Fat Dutch Peter Sat on a teeter. . .
Sturdy Russian Ludaminsky. . .

Hurrah for the snow! I'm an Eskimo. . .
Wapakoneta is an Indian brave. . .

As this cloth book is more than 100 years old, it would make a perfect addition to any children's book collection or to use in creative sewing projects!

From my cousin's personal collection.
