On offer today is a fantastic antique brooch coming to us in time from about the 1880s, the height of the Aesthetic Movement led by Oscar Wilde and other artists of the era.

This may have been a souvenir of a historic monument in England or Continental Europe.

I believe it's rolled gold over brass, and fastens with a simple c-clasp. The hand-engraved scene is a castle and its moat. It's very delicate and beautiful.

One side of the twisted metal has become unsoldered, but the brooch is still very sturdy, just handle with reasonable care, I've priced it accordingly.

The brooch spans 1 1/2 inches in diameter, and is not marked.

It's appropriate for Victorian style Steampunk or reenactment garb!
