This is a hand-colored version of my "Contemplate Decomposition" print, made with watercolor and oil-based printing ink on lokta paper (handmade in Nepal).
The paper is about 10"x7.5" and the image is 8"x6".
There are three options to choose from: light blue sky or bright blue sky with black printing ink, or light blue sky with brown printing ink.

Life is Beautiful, Life is Painful, Go to the Woods, Contemplate Decomposition. This is a hand carved and pressed linoleum block print. The words came to me at a difficult time, when the beauty of life felt just as overwhelming as the pain of life, and holding them together felt almost impossible. I found a lot of comfort in the woods at that time, a place where the line between life and death isn't so clear.
This is an updated version of an older print. The words stayed the same, but I wanted to create an image that fit with the words in a more intentional way. There is the stump of a long ago cut down tree, now teeming with new life, including mushrooms, flowers, lichens, insects, and a young birch sapling. Nestled between it's old roots is a rodent skull, based on the contents of an owl pellet I found with my sister this spring. I hope this print inspires you to find a little peace where ever you can when times get tough.
