Estate sale find: super colorful mod pop print flower power summer caftan/dress with a dark peacock blue grosgrain bow on the empire bust. The colors are happy and summery, and the vibrant print is a riot of multi-colored cartoon flowers on a mod Mondrian-esque background. The back detail has a Grecian gather for a flowing trail of dramatic fabric as you parade poolside. It's by Hilda Hawaii, the famous clothing shop that was owned by Jerry Robison in Maui, and sold colorful Muu Muus, caftans, and quintessential island beach costumes throughout the 60s and 70s. The fabric is a textured cotton shantung that has a graceful drape. The bust is fitted (31-32" bust) and the skirt is very full (the hips can go max to 38"). A great Mad Men inspired look for summer in Nantucket or the Michigan islands, or a trip to Miami or Palm Springs.

label: Hilda Hawaii
size: no sizing tag (I am going to call this a 2 or 4)
fabric: cotton shantung
* unlined
* zipper in back.
condition: excellent vintage condition with no rips, stains, or blemishes other than a tiny mark on the grosgrain bow on the front, barely visible. It looks to have been worn very little, and came from a very clean home that was smoke-free.

measurements: my mannequin is a very tall size 6 and the dress fit her very tight (her bust is 34)

31-32" bust is best (the dress opens up wider just below the bust)
29" rib cage (just below bust)
34-38" hips (the skirt is very full)
44" from arm hole bottom to hemline side
16" across back (at bust)
14" shoulder width, edge of tank sleeve to opposite)
*1-1/2" hem line has been taken up

Colors: hot pink, grass green, white, bright orange, teal blue, butter yellow.

Convo me with any questions.

About me: I am a NY based prop stylist for magazines like Real Simple, Instyle, Seventeen, and others, and a well versed shopper for props (that oftentimes end up here on Etsy). On the whole I’m an easy to approach seller, and if you love something but can’t afford it and wish I would discount it for you I probably will. That said, I majorly frown on low-ball offers for items that are clearly well-priced, so don’t go there. My pricing is, I find, super cheap in comparison to like items in other shops or on Ebay. I'm just looking to clear out the bins and bins of great stuff I have accumulated over the years. When I shop I do so carefully, and select items of a certain quality and design dignity, and take great care in how each item compliments other items in my shop. I only list things I feel are of a high quality, or if a dress, for instance, is damaged, it's there for sale because I know there is someone out there who even with blemishes or repair needs wants that dress. I've found Etsy to be the perfect place for me to sell that sort of thing. So, the message is: there’s no junk here. I dutifully detail all measurements, blemishes, and details I feel are necessary in the listing, and welcome additional info about a designer or item from shoppers. In my travels I come across amazing vintage clothing in the spirit of Betty Draper and Joan Holloway from Mad Men--great silhouettes and styles that are hand made, dressmaker patterned, or tailor made by home makers in the 50s and 60s. When I come across major designer labels like Chanel or Dior I scoop them up, and again with damaged clothing of a certain quality I know there is someone out there with a mending kit and some moxie that wants them. That said, most of what I like to sell is in clean and ready to go condition.

Shipping: I can ship worldwide (though not everywhere) so convo me for inquiries about countries not listed. As a rule I try to ship Priority Mail when possible to insure that shipments arrive safely and have some sort of trafficking number. I can ship any way you like, though. For international shipments I can send via USPS International First Class depending on the weight of the package, and that is usually a less expensive route. When I am in town I generally ship same day as purchase or within 2 or 3 days. If I am out of town for extended periods of time I put my shop on hold, so if it’s up online I’m probably in town.
