ENSO BONSAI - Linoleum Printing - Black/Gold/Natural

Enso Bonsai:

I am pleased to introduce you to my handmade two-tone "Enso Bonsai".

Inspired by Japanese art, but also for esoteric reasons, this print was created with great attention to detail.
The Enso is a symbol of Japanese calligraphy, which is closely related to Zen Buddhism.
Enso symbolizes enlightenment, strength, elegance, the universe and emptiness.
Enso ́s can be displayed closed and open.

This open variant with bonsai has the meaning that something never stands alone but is a part of the "big picture", but also fallibility is an essential part of existence.
The principle of controlling the balance of form through asymmetry and irregularity is an important aspect of Japanese aesthetics.
"FUKINSEI" THE REJECTION OF PERFECTION.

This print was handmade or carved by me in about 20 hours.
Subsequently, the print template was printed/pressed via high-pressure process with an eraser press and oil-based high-pressure paint (black/gold), in two steps, on handmade Nepalese hemp paper (60g/sqm).
This paper is structured and mixed with visible plant fibers.


NOTE:
The print shown is an example. Each print is handmade and universal, which can lead to slight deviations.

The image size is 40 x 40 cm
For this picture I recommend a picture frame made of natural wood with the size 50 x 50 cm
The handmade edge works best on white structural cardboard.


The amount of the limited edition is 60 pcs.

The image was labeled, titled and numbered on the front.

Shipping is exclusively plastic-free and with a small surprise in a flat cardboard box.


Enso Bonsai:


It is my pleasure to present to you my handmade 2 colored Bonsai-Enso.

It was inspired by Japanese art and my interest in esoteric symbols in general.
Enso is used in Japanese calligraphy and Zen Buddhism.
It symbolizes enlightenment, strength, emptiness, elegance and the void.
It can be drawn closed or open.

The open form of Enso, in this case with a bonsai, represents the oneness of life and all things contained within it, the spirit of harmonious cooperation.
Controlling balance in a composition via irregularity and asymmetry is a central goal of the Zen aesthetic and one of the principles in « Fukinsei » (the beauty of imperfection).

Cutting this print took a lot of attention to detail and was completed after approx. 20 hours.
This print was made using the relief-printing method on an etching-press.
I printed it using oil based colors on handmade nepalese lokta paper (60g/sqm). Lokta paper is very structured and has a lot a visible fibre.

Each and every print is handmade which can lead to small variations and deviations in color and accuracy.

The print dimensions are 40 cm x 40 cm (15,75'' x 15,75'').

I recommend a bare wood finish frame size 50 cm x 50 cm (19,7''x19,7'') with white background.

A limited edition of 60 prints is available.

Each print has title, number and label written/stamped on the front side.

Every print is packaged lovingly in plastic-free cardboard box with an additional gift.
