Ming Compote No 138 - Baret Ware - Made in England

Charming tin compote bowl on a pedestal base. Beautiful colors and very pretty design. This is Ming Compote No. 138, made in England by B. W. Co. - Baret Ware. The decoration has an Asian influence. There are birds, bridges, flowers and butterflies. These transferred/painted designs were placed in small segmented areas, such as a band around the rim, a center circle and four triangular panels, adding to the appeal.

Perfect for candy or trinkets. It could also just stand alone on a table or shelf. Lots of decorative appeal that would fit in many decors. The only thing to remember is that to clean it, just use a damp cloth. Do not wash it or allow moisture to accumulate.

The base has been marked:

Baret Ware
The logo -- lion and eagle holding a banner with interlocked “W & B” standing on another banner with the words “Art” and “Grace”.

Below that logo are the words:

“Made in England
Ming Compote
No. 138
Copyright B.W. Co.
To clean simply wipe with damp cloth”

Condition: Base and outside are very, very nice. I see what might be a small stain. The inside has some wear--scratches and a couple of areas where the metal beneath is showing. This fits my vision of that perfect stage of vintage wear. It looks like it has a little history and the beauty of the bowl is still there! If you wish to see more photos or close-ups, just let me know.

Size: Approx. 3-½” high, 7-½” diameter top, 4” diameter pedestal diameter
