Wooden spoon reproduction of an antique long handled cup measure. Until the end of May get 15 % off of your purchase when you buy 2 or more utensils. Use coupon code 2ormore. Last year a woman from Texas sent me pictures of a spoon that had been her grandmothers. She was in her 70's so that tells you how old the spoon was. She had dropped it on the hardwood floor and a big chunk of the front of the bowl had broken out. She wanted me to make her a new one. I made a drawing from the pictures and the measurements she had sent me. I have made several since then always upon request. I really like the lines of this spoon. It has a very "Shakeresque" feel about it, especially the stopped round-overs on the
handle. I love Shaker design and it is fitting to use Curly Maple wood for it because they eskewed ornamentation on their work but they delighted in figured woods like curly Cherry and Birdseye Maple. I guess they saw it as decoration from God and that was alright. They believed that that which had in it the highest functionality, had the most beauty and so do I.

This is a very large spoon. Really it is a wooden bowl with a handle rather than a spoon. I imagine the original was used to dip flour from a deep tin or drawer. It would come in handy if you do a lot of baking or you could just stand holding it up to show who is really in charge of the household. It is 14 inches long and 4 5/8 inches wide. It is calibrated to hold exactly 1 cup. This would make one heck of a pancake batter dipper or a chili server or a coffee scoop for a giant.
