VINTAGE HAT PIN HOLDER – This beautiful and highly desirable hatpin holder springs from an era when ladies hats were all the rage and keeping them in place using a generous selection of flashy pins was the in thing to do.

Description: This piece has a concave base that serves as a ring holder and a rising tapered stem that spreads out at the top to hold nineteen hatpins. It is made of white porcelain and is delicately hand painted with an upward spreading spiral of pink flowers strewn among leafy green stems. The surface of the pin holder area is a solid gold color and the edge of the lightly scalloped ring holder is also trimmed in gold.

This hatpin holder has a seven-pointed star mark that was stamped by the Coiffe factory located in Limoges, France at the time of manufacture. The Star mark with the words "Limoges" and "France" above and below as stamped on this piece was used ca. 1891-1914. The stamped words above and below the star are smudged, but readable with magnification. The star also contains the letters of the word “Limoges” in the seven points of the Star mark itself. Based upon my research along with the markings and style of the piece, I estimate that it is more than ninety years old.

Condition: This holder is in very good used condition with a minute fleabite on the edge of the pin holder surface. It is otherwise unblemished. This is definitely a collector’s item but it can also be an eye catching and useful piece for your dresser or a work of art to place in a display case. This item is sold in as-is condition.

Dimensions – The holder stands 3 3/4 “ tall. The pin holder surface is 2 inches across and the ring holder is 3 3/8” across. The base measures 2 ½” across.
