A Beautiful chunk of the raw stuff, exibiting gem silica, turquoise, malachite, hemtite, galena and more all wrapped solid in a quartz matrix. This stuff cuts beautifully. Its hard, it dosent fracture when cutting it. When mining it I was very careful not to hammer on it, I saw the potential for cutting in this material from the beggining.

I discovered the Canigetalite after the 2011 Tucson gem show in the mountains right above the city while decompressing after the show. It was a result of a decision to take the route much less traveled; and it all happened as a series of coincidences.
After a month along the dusty smoggy Tucson freeway, carefully watching the accumulation of snow on mt Rincon, I couldnt wait for the gem show to be over so I could run up the side of that mountain and roll in the fresh clean snow.
When I finally found myself on the ground runnin in real time up the trail, and it took a turn leading me away from my goal, I set my eye on the prize and left the trail behind.
Along a high mountain wash looking down over the city of Tucson I noticed a fire circle. What a peculiar place to camp I recall thinking, whom ever had spent the night in this barren nowhere was a true cowboy, or a prospector. The fire pit was old, so old the rocks it was built from had weathered and decomposed on their surface. As I scanned the ground I noticed a spot of blue on one of the rocks. I picked it up and slammed it into the ground hard as I could. It split. Adrenaline rushed through me as I exposed this hidden gem to the light of day; the inside of this brown crusty decomposed firecircle rock was pure white and spattered with pockets of turquoise and chrysocolla, veins of ore mixed with malachite. Canigetalite.
