♛The Details

Okay, so I kind of have a "thing" for bird prints on clothing. And yes, it predates Portlandia by at least a decade. (You can see me wearing a prized example here -- http://vixenvintage.blogspot.com/2012/02/noveltea-party.html -- the 1950s birds, moths, fruit sundress. No, not for sale at this time. Oh, and you need to follow this blog, if you don't already.)

Lest I become the "weird bird lady," I've decided to part with a few. This is one.

A 1960s dress with an easy, straightforward shirtdress style, crafted of what feels like a soft cotton blend and printed with...well...all these amazing images that look like they've been lifted straight out of 19th century botanical and natural history books. The background color is an "antiqued" ivory, and the birds, moths, flowers, and clusters of grapes are printed in soothing delphite blue, brick, mustard, and soft cocoa tones. Script in what appears to be Latin and German, too!

This dress was designed to be worn belted, though original belt has long parted ways with the dress. Our vintage mustard yellow belt is just for display.

Closes in front with a button placket, and features sleeves designed to be worn cuffed. Designer label is Country Clothes by Serbin.

All accessories (belts, jewelry, crinolines, pins, etc.) are for style inspiration only unless indicated.

Frequently asked questions about jumblelaya

Sorry, each garment in our shop is authentic vintage, dating from between 20 to 80 years old. We generally only have the one piece shown. We do not sew these items ourselves.

If you love it and it fits, consider buying it, since it's unlikely you'll find it again easily.
If it's older than, say, 1964 OR if you feel it fits our shop's aesthetic, absolutely! We pay fairly, generally 1/3 of retail, sometimes even more. Shoot us a note or set up an appointment to sell if you are in the Portland, OR metroplex!
Sure do! Convo us for an info sheet about it.
We do not have a brick-and-mortar shop, but we do have a private studio located on the banks of the Columbia River, directly across the river from Portland, OR. We offer LIMITED appointments currently, due to time constraints. But if you are serious about a piece or pieces you see, let us know and we'll set something up. Shop inventory is generally not kept in the studio, so you'll need to let us know ahead of time which garments you'd like to see in person.
