At 685 pages plus the index, this is a weighty, comprehensive volume. Covering appetizers to desserts with additional chapters on wines, beverages, herbs & spices, sources for supplies, and weights, measures & tables. Nearly 1500 recipes ranging from basic to elaborate. Perfect for the beginner cook: clear, concise recipes made with readily available ingredients. Perfect for the more advanced cook: great basic recipes that can serve as a jumping-off point to more adventurous meals. Read some reviews of the NY Times Cook Book. It belongs in almost every kitchen :)

This 1977 edition is in near mint condition. The book measures 6.75" by 9.5" by 2". Though there is no dust jacket, the cover has held up very well. There are a few light marks here and there (see pics 1 & 5) and the corners are slightly bent. But the faults are minimal. The inside is pristine...no writing, tears, folds or stains. The spine is unbroken. This book was very well taken care of in its last home. Clean, bright and basically new :)
