Cedar Valley Boxes are handcrafted, sourced and MADE IN USA. We use solid Eastern Aromatic Cedar, which is the best quality available to make our products.
▪️ THE PATTERN▪️
Cedar is a very "busy" and patterned wood and is NOT a solid color. Expect your box to have a lot of personality and it will be a combination of red, brown, maroon and blonde. You will see blonde dashes, freckles, patterns of lines, rings within the wood. We DO NOT stain our wood, so what you're seeing is the wood with clear lacquer coat finish on the exterior. If you see a blonde dash, we didn't miss staining a spot. :) Our listing photos are only a representation of what you may receive.
▪️KNOTS▪️
There is no way we can guarantee that the top or front of your box is completely knot free. We know your engraving is a focal point of your box, so we don't engrave through knots. There could be a knot adjacent, above or below your engraving, however. Knots most often will have what appears to be a line through them, an arc around them or a raised ridge. This is very common and is called "checking." It doesn't pose a structural issue to the box. Knots will pretty much always "check" which indicates expansion and contraction of the wood. Knots on the inside of boxes will typically have wider grooves or rough patches. Knots can/may emit sap.
▪️COLOR ▪️
The boxes shown in our listing photos have been "aged" and this means the wood has already started turning colors. When you receive your Cedar Valley box it will be a pink-red shade which means the wood is brand new. Your box will start changing color almost immediately and will become "aged" within a short amount of time. It will continue to age and turn a mellow brown/honey shade. We only sell new cedar as our inventory is continually selling and not aging on the shelf. Please be aware that the lighting on your computer, phone and handheld device may not accurately represent the color of the box.

▪️THE AGING PROCESS▪️
One thing to note is that boxes with a lot of pattern, color contrast and knots tend to be the most beautiful over time. A box that is aged looks completely different than one that is new/bright red.
Unfortunately we cannot take requests for the color or grain structure or pattern of the wood. Each box we ship will be beautiful and one-of-a-kind, we promise!

◼ CARING FOR YOUR CEDAR BOX◼
Cedar as a hardwood does have a lot of movement. We do recommend keeping your urn latched or closed when not in use and to avoid storage in direct sunlight or extreme cold conditions. Heat, humidity and extreme cold are not good for the boxes and can contribute to the warping of the wood and can compromise the exterior finish.

Handcrafted in Texas by Cedar Valley Box Company, our Cedar Pet Urns are an industry classic. We’re one of the last American manufacturers of cedar products in the United States. We construct all of our boxes from solid Eastern Aromatic Cedar. This is the highest grade of cedar hardwood available. Every Cedar Valley handcrafted product is 100% solid from top to bottom. Our wood is sourced in Arkansas and Texas and is some of the most beautiful wood in the country. We sand and buff our boxes until they’re ultra smooth and we preserve them with 2 coats of clear lacquer finish. Our finish is highly recognizable in the industry. The interior and bottom of our boxes are left unfinished on purpose. When you receive your box, it will be fragrant with the well-loved aroma of cedar.

▪️Your Cedar Valley box ships FREE to the Continental U.S.
▪️Unfortunately, we don't ship to Puerto Rico, Hawaii and Alaska, because the cost of shipping and shipping timeline.
▪️When your package leaves our shop, you will get a Shipping Notification in your Purchases screen through the Etsy App. which contains the Tracking Number.
▪️We ship UPS Ground most often which is 2-5 business days delivery or occasionally USPS Ground Advantage. Please reach out if you'd like upgraded shipping options/prices.
▪️Your package is packed in plain brown packaging and wrapped with strict quality standards.

◼ENGRAVING ◼
We use high quality laser engraving to personalize our boxes. This means the personalization is burned into the wood and has a char effect. Because cedar is a multi-color wood, the engraving could be lighter and darker in some areas as this is dictated by the wood color. Please note that while your box will have knots we don't engrave directly into a knot and they would be above, below or next to the engraving.

You may engrave the box with 1 or 2 Lines.
-If you select 1 Line of Engraving all of the personalization will be on 1 Line
-We suggest about 20-26 characters per line for Names including spaces.

◼HOW TO ORDER◼
Select the # of Lines from the dropdown menu that you'd like engraved on your box
▪️If you select the “no engrave” option, we will not engrave the box, obviously even if text is entered in the personalization box.
▪️Use the + personalization box to enter 1-Personalization you want engraved on your box
▪️If you select NO ENGRAVING from the dropdown menu then enter 'no engrave" in the personalization box at checkout

◼HARDWARE◼
There are 2 closure options for this box which include a swing latch which is simply a latch closure which latches right to left. If you choose the swing latch, this option will not ever hold a lock.

When you place your order and select "padlock" that means you receive the hasp, and it automatically also includes the padlock.
