Anti-Gravity Bezel Tutorial

A lot of people have been asking me to do a tutorial for this setting. It actually took me ages to teach myself and develop this technique. There is a fairly simple trick involved in this setting which allows the stone to sit in the bezel and seemingly defy gravity. I do not use glue or epoxy, the stone is actually set in the bezel.

Any type of stone can be used for this project. I prefer rough stones but you can use practically any stone. Harder stones such as quartz are best, but it is possible to do this setting with softer stones such as malachite as well. If you're not sure about the hardness of your stone, search for "mohs hardness scale" on a search engine to find out more about this. If you have a specific stone in mind, for example malachite, type in "mohs hardness scale malachite." That will tell you the hardness of the stone. For this project, stones that are a 7 (like quartz) or higher work the best. But anything above a 4 should be possible to work with.
