I have always loved working with fiber. I come from a family of women who were makers, so I learned to knit and sew at an early age. I was smitten by the hooked rugs I saw at auctions of early/primitive antiques in Maine. What lovely colors and simple designs. In the late 1990's, what started as a love of beautiful, old hooked rugs grew to become a small business featuring the designing and hooking of primitive styled rugs. I love being able to share this heritage art form with all of you and hope my patterns will bring out your inner artist.
If you are not familiar with my designs, I love the warmth, whimsy and welcome of primitive designs. I think this “look” is at home in every setting, be it country or city. My designs have been published in both "Rug Hooking Magazine" and "Wool Street Journal." In 2005/6 I was honored to be chosen as one of the top rug hooking artists in the country by "Early American Life" magazine.
Commissions are always welcome. I'd love to work with you to design a primitive rug that embodies your vision, or hook one of my patterns in your favorite colors. Please email me with your ideas.
My husband and I live on the coast of Maine in a house that was built in 1830. We surround ourselves with primitive colors, furniture in old paint, primitive smalls, and textiles (and, yes, I do walk on my rugs). We share our home with two fabulous Springer Spaniels.
