I live in Germany on a small farm with Icelandic horses, sheep and goats.
I do not breed and do not kill my sheep. Up to 2009 I milked my sheep and made cheese for sale. To have milk the animals have to get lambs every year and the lambs have to be slaughtered after some time because you cannot keep them all and nobody wants them alive. I could not bear this any more, so I stopped making cheese.
For most of my objects I use the wool of my own sheeps, these are East Frisean milk sheeps, Wensleydales, Gotland-Wensleydale-crossbreeds and a Scottish Blackface-mix. But I also buy some other fibers, such as Teeswater locks, directly from other shepherds.
I really love to work with the wool from my own sheep. You have a special relation to the fiber, when you know the animal where it comes from. And I would be very happy, if you like my yarns, too.
I love to combine a lot of different fibers in my yarns and I love to combine knitting and felting in my objects.
