Alpaca wool is special. Soft and strong, relaxing to work, so warm you learn not to overdo the weight or weave of your garment. Once reserved for royalty, you must treat yourself or your loved ones to this pleasure, both to make and to wear. And if you can meet an alpaca, raised in a kind and respectful way, please do so. These are intelligent and empathetic creatures, very social if a bit shy, more like cats than dogs. I warn you, do not bring your trailer ;) I have retreated from the farm, to the fiber alone, with a job change, for now. Just a bit further south down the Appalachian mtns, still relaxing with yarn, felt, and roving.
