I am a Grandmother who enjoys photography and everything creative. I have spent the last five years building a stash of precious and semi precious stones, learning about where and how some of these stones are created. Mother Nature is truly generous in her creations which has fired me into this learning process. The techniques and many hours over the last few years has brought me to this moment in time. I now need to share these creations in the hope they will be loved by someone other than myself. A list of some fav gems, faceting and sizing. Freeform because of its naturalness. I love seeing nature in its raw form but I also like the way we can mystic coat that rawness to add another dimension. Large 16,14 and 12ml rounds both smooth and faceted because of the simple statement they make. Cubes in all sizes but my fav has to be step cut, it adds an elegance to a cube. 8ml rounds are a staple because I can use them as spacers or stretchies. 2,3 and 4ml Micro Faceted rounds and rondelles with even drilling and sizing. You can use these sizings for both statements and more delicate pieces to give that lovely sparkle effect. I have loved Agates from the beginning because of their wide variety in cut, patternation and colours. Botswana, Mexican, Blue Lace, flower and Brazilian.
Amethyst, Praisiolite, Brazilian and Zambian.
Apatite, in all its colour ways.
Amber,Baltic. Some of our planets oldest natural gems which makes each individual piece so unique with its history.
Chalcedony because of its opaque and gentle nature.Drops, rounds and faceted.
Crystal Swarovski, for it’s continuity to add something extra to a creation.
Obviously who doesn’t like Diamonds, but the rough are easily a fav of mine.
Burmese Jadite, a soft and gentle green colour, in both rounds, faceted and smooth. They remind me of clouds on a spring day.
Garnets, what a myriad of colours this stone comes in. From plum, cherry, orange and greens. My faves are Hessonite, Rhodolite and Demantoid. I haven’t as yet got my hands on the colour change variety.
Kunzite in all its forms both cloudy and gem quality.
Lepidolite with its flashes of Mica and calming ability. Anything in purples and lilacs get a vote from me.
Lodolite, I find nature’s creations within in this stone fascinating.
Moonstone. I am a Mocha fan but love dainty cut rainbow moonstone.
Opals. I love the baby soft effect of the pink and blue Peruvian gems. But like a lot of people I find Ethiopian and Australian flash opals remind me of the Northern Lights. How does nature do that?.
