About the Artisan
An artist since birth, Helia’s formal instruction lies within traditional 2 Dimensional media, particularly painting. However, an impulse to create has led her to a life filled with beauty in many, many forms. A formative visit to the Winchester Mystery House in San Jose in 2018 is what sparked her total immersion into the world of stained glass. She has been working in glass ever since, having gone full-time for herself and her shop, Altered Light Design, in 2020 towards the start of the COVID pandemic.
She works happily out of her home in Central California, where she currently lives with her partner Cody, two dogs and two cats. As a Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Survivor, Helia takes pride in channeling the constant attention and mindfulness required to function in daily life in a way that brings light and beauty to those around her for years to come.
Her current goal is to move from renting to home owner, having obtained property with her spouse in mid 2022. Every purchase goes to helping her build the studio, home and garden of her dreams (modestly, of course).
