Making Bullet Jewelry and Accessories in Southeast Alaska
I started making bullet jewelry when I saw some online. Made me think, I would wear those, I can MAKE those! So I started. My husband helped set me up with the necessary power tools for cutting the brass ends, polishing and so on. We had plenty of extra brass lying around as we are both avid shooters and hunters. We've both been shooting guns since about the age of four and teaching the proper safety and respect with guns to our four children has been important to us. This unique and cute Bullet Jewelry is a way for myself and anyone else who loves gun associated activities to wear with pride a piece of America's gun related history. Where would we be without firearms? Not any place I want to be.
After I started on the bullet jewelry I was inspired by my husband, who I love to go beachcombing with, to create something that resembled the Japanese glass fishing floats we find washed up on our beaches occasionally. They are the ultimate find on any day, a piece of beautiful history in our eyes.
My life is considered very different today, with gathering firewood all summer to get through the winter. Shooing bears off my porch, and fishing for salmon right our front door. Getting fresh crab and shrimp whenever we feel like putting the pots out. I couldn't ask for a more wild and blessed life.
