A one-stop bee-product shop!
We waren al jaren geïnteresseerd in de bijenteelt, maar dachten dat we nooit de tijd hadden om ons eraan te wijden. Toen kwam 2020 en, weet je wel, Covid. Ineens waren we thuis en hadden we alle tijd. Dus, bijenteelt in de achtertuin werd een van onze toetsstenen in de gekte van 2020. Dat eerste jaar hadden we twee bijenkorven (Elaine en Rachel). We kwamen erachter wat voor ons werkte met een combinatie van vallen en opstaan, YouTube-video's en online vergaderingen met de Nashville Area Beekeepers Association. Onze twee bijenkorven breidden uit naar drie in 2021 en naar vijf in 2022. We hadden zeker een aantal slechte a$$ bijen! We hadden zoveel honing en bijenwas dat we besloten om het aan te bieden aan buren, familie en vrienden. Het is zo'n succes geweest dat we zijn overgestapt naar Etsy.
Naast de honing begon Karren de bijenwas en honing te gebruiken in huidverzorgingsproducten (lippenbalsems, handbalsem en honingzepen tot nu toe) en huishoudelijke artikelen (wassmelt, bijenwas voedselwikkels, honing keel zuigtabletten). Ze breidt haar repertoire uit en voegt voortdurend nieuwe producten toe. Als je suggesties hebt, hoort ze ze graag!

We had been interested in beekeeping for years, but thought we never had the time to devote to it. Then came 2020 and, you know, Covid. All of a sudden, we were home and had plenty of time. So, backyard beekeeping became one of our touchstones in the craziness of 2020. That first year, we had two hives (Elaine and Rachel). We figured out what worked for us with a combination of trial and error, YouTube videos and online meetings with the Nashville Area Beekeepers Association. Our two hives expanded to three in 2021 and to five in 2022. We definitely had some bad a$$ bees! We had so much honey and beeswax we decided to start offering it to neighbors, family and friends. It has been such a success, we've moved on to Etsy.
In addition to the honey, Karren started using the beeswax and honey in skin care products (lip balms, hand balm, and honey soaps so far) and household items (wax melts, beeswax food wraps, honey throat lozenges). She is expanding her repertoire and adding new products all the time. If you have any suggestions, she would love to hear them!
