About Cape Catch Shells
Cape Catch Shells began as a small creative outlet during a season when I needed something grounding. I’m a special‑education teacher by day, and while I love my work, I was looking for a way to channel stress into something meaningful. My fiancé is a scalloper on Cape Cod, and he’d come home with buckets of North Atlantic scallop shells—each one different in shape, color, and character. I started experimenting with them, printing photos and creating designs on shells he had caught just hours earlier.
The very first piece was a Christmas gift: a scallop shell printed with a photo of his mother and late father. That single gift sparked more requests, and before long, I was making custom photo shells, ornaments, ring dishes, and eventually coastal apparel. That’s when Cape Catch Shells and our tagline Catch The Tide were born.
Every shell I use comes straight from the source—the fisherman himself—so each piece carries a real story from Cape Cod waters. My goal is simple: to create keepsakes and designs that locals and visitors genuinely connect with, while honoring the sustainability and beauty of using the whole animal. These shells lived in our waters, were harvested with care, and now get a second life as meaningful pieces that celebrate the place we love.
