I wanted to finally tell My nail journey lol since it's a crazy one. 2 years ago I was determined that I wanted to go get my nails done and keep getting them done..(full acrylic gel manicure) $50 each time I'd go. I went four times and on that fourth one my nails started to get itchy and irritated so I decided it was time to do something different. Why was I paying that much to have my nails itchy. I bought my own nail tips, the gel, the uv light, the whole set up. Everything was going great until I realized I was getting a chemical burn on my fingers and I assumed it was from the UV light. Come to find out it was from the gel polish. I even tried a way around it and I started to paint the nails first and then put them under the UV light and then just use a glue to put them on my fingers. Well that didn't work either since it was the actual gel I was allergic to the chemical burn continued. I almost lost my thumb. That was the moment I decided I needed to let my fingers heal but I still wanted to wear nails. So I found the most sensitive glue I could that still works really good and keeps my nails on... And I use all regular polish with no UV light now. So anyone with Gel polish sensitivities doesn't have to worry when buying my nails.
The picture I'm going to attach is the aftermath of the chemical burn. It was 6+ months of healing before my thumb was back to normal. Every touch hurt. I went down the rabbit hole and you can actually make yourself allergic to Gel polish by using it too much if it comes in contact with your skin. So my suggestion is just stay away from gel polish at this point !!
I have been successfully doing my own nails with no problems since I switched to regular polish. It just makes me wonder how many other girls end up with chemical burns and don't realize what's going on. I had no idea that the gel polish was not good for my skin And I used that stuff for 6 months or more. I can't attach the other picture when the burn first started because it looks like my finger is going to fall off 🙃
Anyways, this is why I don't use Gel and UV lite for my nails.
Always choose the safest for your skin!!
