All That Jazz
Como me encanta el arte y me encanta tocar la batería en un trío de jazz, parecía natural hacer arte sobre la música de jazz. Es fascinante contemplar cómo la belleza puede entrar en los ojos y los oídos de manera tan diferente, así que decidí intentar mostrar cómo se "ve" el jazz, en otras palabras, MOSTRAR cómo suena. El jazz tiene su propia sensación, que es muy vibrante, colorida y, a menudo, angular. Es muy divertido escuchar una emocionante melodía de jazz y pensar: "OK, ¿cómo se vería esto si pudiéramos verlo?" Ese es el espíritu detrás de mi obra de arte.
Gran parte de lo que ves en mi página de Etsy está hecho de telas: corté tela y la junté para hacer un collage, eligiendo colores y patrones que tengan la sensación correcta para la pieza.
Since I love art and love playing drums in a jazz trio, it only seemed natural to make art about jazz music. It is fascinating to contemplate how beauty can enter the eyes and ears so differently, so I decided to try showing how jazz "looks"-- in other words, SHOW how it sounds. Jazz has its own feel, which is very vibrant, colorful, and often angular. It is a lot of fun to listen to an exciting jazz tune and think, "OK, how would this LOOK if we could see it?" That is the spirit behind my artwork.
Much of what you see on my Etsy page is made from fabrics-- I cut fabric and piece it together to make a collage, choosing colors and patterns that have just the right feel for the piece.
