Primitive Rug Hooking...crafting keepsakes one loop at a time
Ciò che amo di più dell'aggancio primitivo del tappeto è quanto sia ingenuo e stravagante.
Questa forma d'arte molto antica si è evoluta dalla necessità utilitaristica di avere rivestimenti caldi, sia per il pavimento che per il letto.
I materiali erano vecchi tessuti che il produttore aveva a portata di mano. L'opera d'arte e i temi provenivano dall'ambiente circostante, disegnati come meglio potevano.
La mia speranza è che vi unirete a me in questa avventura, per mantenere vivo e vegeto il mestiere di agganciare tappeti e crescere nelle prossime generazioni.
Sono così felice che tu sia venuto a trovarti. Spero di poter essere d'aiuto nel fornire le forniture e i progetti necessari per iniziare a tirare i loop :)
Un po 'di me:
In tenera età mia madre mi ha insegnato a cucire e la nonna mi ha insegnato a lavorare a maglia.
Da lì ho perseguito tanti mestieri tessili... tranne l'aggancio del tappeto! Ma a volte le nostre vite prendono svolte fortuite.
Nel 1998 mia sorella mi ha convinto a provare la mia mano all'aggancio del tappeto e sono rimasto affascinato fin dal primo momento! Tutti gli altri miei mestieri, trapuntatura, filatura, tessitura, cucito sono passati in secondo piano da quando ho iniziato la mia attività di aggancio di tappeti nel 2003. Ho iniziato insegnando lezioni e vendendo lana tinta a mano in un negozio di trapunte in Illinois. Nel 2009 ho aperto il sito web Designs In Wool e nel 2011 ho aperto il mio negozio Etsy.
Mio marito ed io ora risiediamo a Prior Lake, nel Minnesota.

What I love most about primitive rug hooking is how naive and whimsical it is.
This very old art form evolved out of the utilitarian need to have warm coverings, whether for floor or bed.
The materials were old textiles the maker had on hand. The art work and themes came from their surroundings, drawn as best they could.
My hope is that you will join me in this adventure, to keep the craft of rug hooking alive and well and growing into the next generations.

A little about me:
At a very young age my mom taught me to sew and Grandma taught me to knit.
From there I pursued so many textile crafts...except rug hooking! But sometimes our lives take serendipitous turns.
In 1998 my sister talked me into trying my hand at rug hooking and I was hooked from the first moment! All my other crafts, quilting, spinning, weaving, sewing have taken a back seat since I started my rug hooking business in 2003. I began by teaching classes and selling hand dyed wool at a quilt shop in Illinois. In 2009 I opened Designs In Wool website and in 2011 opened my Etsy shop.
My husband and I now reside in Prior Lake, Minnesota.
