Botanically-themed clothing and accessories from a backyard workshop in North Carolina
I started Flytrap Clothing over ten years ago, printing on my dining room table until the wee hours of the morning and supplementing the salary I earned at a local food co-op. Over the course of the first year, I quit my day job and hired an apprentice named Eric to help me print. As it turned out, we really liked working together--a lot--and one morning at 6am, after an entire night of printing, I looked over at Eric and said, "So this isn't about the screen printing any more, is it?" We got married five years later, to the day. Together we've purchased industrial equipment, rented a commercial space, bought an airy old house big enough to work from home, and built a backyard workshop. As you'd expect, our vision for our company has shifted and evolved throughout these years, but several things have remained constant: my love of plants, our complex ink colors, our super soft fabrics, and our crisp, detailed print technique.
We also want you to know we are a steadfastly local business. Our fabrics, leather, inks, and dyes are almost exclusively US-made. From time to time, we use imported products if we can verify that they are ethically manufactured, and only if we can't find a domestically-made option. Flytrap Clothing invests in a network of farmers, artisans, and small businesses, so when you buy our products, your dollars support local enterprise and help our small community thrive.
