He estado pintando toda mi vida, con una larga pausa.
Matrimonio, hijos, todo el hermoso caos que conlleva formar una familia: en algún momento, los pinceles terminaron en un cajón y allí permanecieron durante mucho tiempo. Tres hijos adultos después, tras el divorcio, volví a abrir ese cajón. Lo que salió no fue óxido. Fue alivio.
Pintar es mi terapia, mi alegría y, sinceramente, probablemente mi manera de evitar pensar demasiado en cualquier otra cosa. Funciona. Lo recomiendo ampliamente.
Actualmente vivo en el sur de California, lo que significa que pinto con buena luz todo el año y no me quejo de nada. Mi pasión por el arte reside en varios lugares a la vez: las costas rocosas y los veranos suaves de Nueva Inglaterra, la luz espectacular de la costa californiana y la ocasional explosión de color de Hawái, Costa Rica y Florida; allí donde el color es más intenso y el ambiente más cálido.
Mi estilo es el impresionismo contemporáneo, que en otras palabras significa: colores vibrantes, pinceladas sueltas y una total falta de pretensiones. Pinto lo que me conmueve, con los colores que me hacen sentir algo, con más entusiasmo que contención.
Hablando de nietos, son cinco, y son la razón de ser de esta tienda. Empezaron a llamarme Abuelo en broma, les parecía divertidísimo, y con el tiempo ese se convirtió en mi nombre, mi marca personal y mi personalidad (probablemente no sea lo más sano, pero aquí estamos). Y me parece bien.
Hago arte porque no puedo evitarlo. Los artistas hacen arte. Espero que alguna de estas obras llegue a tus paredes y te alegre cada vez que la veas. Y si además te hace reír un poco, ¡mejor aún! Probablemente ese era el objetivo.

FULL ABOUT SECTION
I've been painting my whole life — with one long intermission.
Marriage, kids, all the beautiful chaos that comes with building a family: somewhere in there, the brushes went into a drawer and stayed there for a long time. Three grown kids later, post-divorce, I opened that drawer back up. What came out wasn't rust. It was relief.
Painting is my therapy, my joy, and honestly probably my way of avoiding thinking too hard about anything else. It works. Highly recommend.
These days I live in Southern California, which means I paint in good light year-round and complain about nothing. My heart, art-wise, lives in a few places at once: the rocky coastlines and soft summers of New England, the dramatic light of the California coast, and the occasional full-color explosion of Hawaii, Costa Rica, and Florida — wherever the color is loudest and the mood is warmest.
My style is contemporary impressionism, which is a fancy way of saying: bold color, loose brushwork, and a general refusal to be precious about it. I paint what moves me, in the colors that make me feel something, with more enthusiasm than restraint.
Speaking of grandkids — there are five of them, and they are the reason this shop exists. They started calling me Grammo as a joke and thought it was hysterical and somewhere along the way that became my name, my brand, and my entire personality (probably not healthy but here we are). I'm fine with this.
I make art because I can't not make it. Artists art. I hope something here finds its way to your walls and makes you happy every time you walk by it. And if it makes you laugh a little too — even better. That was probably the whole point.
