Me inspiré para abrir mi tienda después de que una amiga me trajera una envoltura furoshiki de su viaje a Japón. Pensé que era una gran idea reducir nuestra contribución a los vertederos, así que decidí compartir este concepto con otros. Todavía me estremezco cuando pienso en todos los días de Navidad en los que recogí una gran cantidad de papel de regalo usado y lo tiré a la basura. Debido a la naturaleza brillante de la mayoría del papel de regalo, no es apto para el reciclaje. Mi siguiente proyecto fue limitar la cantidad de plástico que utilizamos, así que comencé a hacer bolsas para zapatos, bolsas para la ropa sucia y bolsas de regalo con tela, que es mucho más respetuosa con el medio ambiente ya que se pueden utilizar durante años. También visito ventas de garaje y tiendas de operaciones en busca de tapetes, paños de cocina y manteles antiguos y los reutilizo como materiales para manualidades o bolsas de regalo. Estoy asombrado por algunos de los artículos bellamente bordados que encuentro y me encanta pensar que irán a un nuevo hogar, donde otra generación también los amará. Me gustaría agradecer a todos los que compran en mi tienda por sus esfuerzos para mejorar nuestro medio ambiente.

I was inspired to start my shop after a friend brought me back a furoshiki wrap from her trip to Japan. I thought it was such a great idea to reduce our contribution to landfill, so I decided to share this concept with others. I still shudder when I think of all the Christmas days when I scooped up a huge amount of used wrapping paper and threw it in the bin. Due to the shiny nature of most wrapping paper it is unsuitable for recycling. My next project was to limit the amount of plastic we use, so I started making shoe bags, laundry bags and gift bags from fabric, which is much kinder to the environment as they can be used for years. I also visit garage sales and op shops for vintage doilies, tea towels and tablecloths and re-purpose these as craft supplies or gift bags. I am in awe of some of the beautifully embroidered items I find, and love to think they will go to a new home, where another generation will love them too. I would like to thank everyone who purchases from my shop for their efforts in enhancing our environment.
