Hester's Studio crea ceramiche artigianali per la casa, il giardino e dispositivi indossabili unici. La natura che circonda lo studio nella Hudson Valley ha fortemente influenzato il lavoro. Hester trae ispirazione da elementi della vita quotidiana; paesaggi, tessuti, fogliame, fiori e cibo. Hester si sforza di creare pezzi semplici per l'uso quotidiano con il desiderio di esprimere la bellezza con utilità. Ogni pezzo è costruito a mano con la costruzione in lastra, utilizzando una forte argilla di gres bianco. Alcuni pezzi incorporano diversi elementi come pelle e legno. Molta attenzione viene data alla stratificazione delle trame, creando composizioni asimmetriche. Perché tutto è fatto a mano, non ci sono due pezzi esattamente uguali, ogni imperfezione di ogni pezzo è celebrato e questo è ciò che li rende veramente unici nel loro genere.
Fin da piccolo ho avuto un interesse per la creazione artistica. Non avevo toccato l'argilla fino a quando non ho preso un corso di ceramica al community college e da quel momento sono stato immediatamente agganciato, ho adorato il modo in cui potevo manipolare l'argilla in qualsiasi cosa volessi. Mi sono poi trasferito a SUNY New Paltz dove è sbocciata la mia passione per l'argilla e ho continuato a ricevere il mio BFA in Ceramica. L'amore per l'argilla è continuato dopo la laurea, dove ho completato una residenza al Watershed Center for the Ceramics Arts di Newcastle, nel Maine.
Creo il mio lavoro nel mio studio di casa nelle montagne Shawangunk, situato nella valle dell'Hudson. Insieme all'arredamento per la casa, produco anche sculture in ceramica, dove esploro le emozioni umane. Esamino i momenti scomodi e imbarazzanti, tranquilli e interiori, le emozioni universali che tutti attraversiamo e comprendiamo. Adoro che perché tutto è fatto a mano non ci sono due pezzi esattamente uguali, celebro le imperfezioni di ogni pezzo e questo è ciò che li rende davvero unici nel loro genere.

Hester’s Studio creates handcrafted ceramics for the home, garden, and unique wearables. Nature that surrounds the studio in the Hudson Valley has heavily influenced the work. Hester draws inspiration from elements of daily life; landscapes, textiles, foliage, flowers and food. Hester strives to create simple pieces for everyday use with the desire to express the beauty with utility. Each piece is hand built with slab construction, using a strong white stoneware clay. Some pieces incorporate different elements such as leather and wood. Much attention is given to the layering of textures, creating asymmetrical compositions. Because everything is made by hand, no two pieces are exactly alike, each pieces imperfections are celebrated and this is what truly makes them one of a kind.
From an early age I had an interest in creating art. I hadn’t touched clay until I took a ceramics class in community college and from that moment I was instantly hooked, I loved the way I could manipulate the clay into whatever I wanted to. I then transferred to SUNY New Paltz where my passion for clay blossomed, and went on to receive my BFA in Ceramics. The love for clay continued after graduation where I completed a residency at Watershed Center for the Ceramics Arts in Newcastle, Maine.
I create my work at my home studio in the Shawangunk Mountains, located in the Hudson Valley. Along with home decor, I also produce ceramic sculptures, where I explore human emotion. I examine the uncomfortable and awkward, quiet and internal moments, universal emotions we all go through and understand. I love that because everything is made by hand no two pieces are exactly alike, I celebrate each pieces imperfections and this is what truly makes them one of a kind.
