Our Mission
Mis amigos,
La gente se lanza por acantilados mientras escribe mensajes de texto (historia real). Los coches se conducen solos. Los aviones vuelan solos. La inteligencia artificial incluso escribe las tesis de nuestros estudiantes. ¿Realmente mejoran nuestras vidas estos avances modernos?
¿Qué pasó con James Dean, que lucía genial en su deportivo manual? ¿Con el romanticismo de cruzar el Pacífico en un Pan Am Clipper? ¿Con navegar por el Amazonas con solo una cantimplora y una brújula? ¿Con explorar el Valle de los Reyes pala en mano?
La humanidad está cambiando su sentido de la aventura y la belleza, reemplazándolo por la tecnología. No estoy en contra de la tecnología. Sin duda, tiene su lugar en la sociedad y seguirá brindando avances extraordinarios: curará enfermedades, alimentará a los hambrientos y resolverá grandes desafíos. Pero también debemos preguntarnos: ¿qué sentido tiene vivir si nos convertimos en robots que avanzamos penosamente a través del tiempo, controlados e influenciados hasta el final?
Ahora estoy escribiendo esto en un iPad (una tecnología genial), pero estas palabras fueron escritas primero a mano con mi bolígrafo Sky Blue Highlander.
Vivimos en un mundo de distracciones: aplicaciones que monetizan tu atención, videojuegos que consumen horas, noticias diseñadas para impactar y vender. Existe una batalla constante por tu mente, tu tiempo y, en última instancia, tu chequera.

People are walking off cliffs while texting (true story). Cars drive themselves. Airplanes fly themselves. Artificial Intelligence even writes our students’ theses. Do these modern advances really improve our lives?
Whatever happened to James Dean looking cool in his manual sports car? The romance of flying across the Pacific on a Pan Am Clipper? Navigating the Amazon with only a canteen and compass? Exploring the Valley of the Kings with shovel in hand?
Humanity is trading its sense of adventure and beauty, replacing it with technology. I’m not against technology. It certainly has its place in society, and will continue to provide extraordinary advancements — it will cure disease, feed the hungry, and solve great challenges. But we must also ask: What is the point of living if we become robots trudging through time, controlled and influenced until the end?
Now, I’m typing this on an iPad (cool tech), but these words were first written by hand with my Sky Blue Highlander Rollerball Pen.
We live in a world of distractions — apps monetizing your attention, video games consuming hours, news designed to shock and sell. There is a constant battle for your mind, your time, and ultimately your checkbook.
