¡Hola! Soy Millie. ¡Soy caligrafista, tejedora y amante de hacer cosas!
Descubrí la caligrafía con pincel cuando tenía veinte años, después de experimentar con plumillas y tinta. Realmente me encanta esa sensación de satisfacción que obtienes al completar una frase perfectamente escrita, por eso quiero que tú también puedas hacerlo, ¡y creé mis kits de tutoriales de caligrafía con esto en mente! También hay algo en mirar una hermosa pieza de caligrafía que es tan fascinante, ¿no crees?
Además de escribir citas en caligrafía, me gusta aplicar mis letras a mano a todo tipo de artículos para el hogar y artículos de papelería. Se me ocurrió la idea de mis perchas de 'días de la semana' cuando intentaba organizarme para la próxima semana preparando mis atuendos. No pude encontrar las perchas que estaba buscando, así que decidí hacer las mías: ¡había nacido Hot Fresh Bright! El nombre surgió cuando estaba tratando de describir mi trabajo: colores brillantes y una nueva versión.
Mi otra pasión es tejer, he estado obsesionada desde que era una niña. Muchas personas intentaron enseñarme a tejer cuando era niña, incluidas mi madre y mi abuela, ¡pero siendo zurda parecía una tarea imposible! Recuerdo tener un libro de Ladybird sobre tejido, y con la ayuda de las ilustraciones aprendí por mi cuenta invirtiendo el método. Esto significa que la forma en que tejo se ve un poco extraña, siendo una combinación de métodos para diestros y zurdos, pero no se preocupe, los artículos terminados siempre se ven geniales.
Estudié Moda en la universidad y estaba en mi elemento con el módulo de tejido. Luego terminé una licenciatura en Negocios de la Moda, especializándome en géneros de punto. ¡Muchas personas piensan que estoy bromeando cuando les digo que tengo un título en tejido de punto!
Aquí es donde me enamoré del tejido grueso con hilo de camiseta, probablemente porque soy impaciente y me gusta lo rápido que aparece tu diseño ante tus ojos. Siempre busco crear algo fuera de lo común, y así es como se me ocurrieron mis canastas de trapillo. Son mi propio patrón, y los he tejido en una amplia gama de tamaños, desde 'mini maceta de escritorio' hasta 'organizador de baño grande'.
Puedes encontrarme regularmente enseñando talleres de caligrafía, escribiendo artículos de papelería para bodas o tomando té y empaquetando pedidos en mi nuevo estudio de jardín.

Hi! I'm Millie. I'm a calligraphy artist, knitter and lover-of-making-things!
I discovered brush pen calligraphy in my twenties, after experimenting with nibs and ink. I really love that satisfying feeling you get from completing a perfectly lettered phrase - which is why I want you to be able to do it too, and I created my Calligraphy tutorial kits with this in mind! There is also something about looking at a beautiful piece of calligraphy that is so mesmerising, don't you think?
As well as writing quotes in calligraphy, I like applying my hand lettering to all sorts of homeware and stationery. I came up with the idea for my 'days of the week' hangers when trying to get organised for the week ahead by prepping my outfits. I couldn't find the hangers I was looking for and so decided to make my own - Hot Fresh Bright was born! The name came about when I was trying to describe my work - bright colours and a fresh take.
My other passion is knitting, I've been obsessed ever since I was a little girl. Many people tried to teach me to knit as a child, including my mum and my grandmother, but being left-handed it seemed an impossible task! I remember having a Ladybird book about knitting, and with the help of the illustrations I taught myself by kind-of reversing the method! This means the way I knit looks a little odd, being a blend of left and right handed methods - but don't worry, the finished items always look great.
I studied Fashion at college and was in my element with the knitting module. I went on to complete a degree in Fashion Business, specialising in knitwear - a lot of people think I'm joking when I tell them I have a degree in knitting!
This is where I fell in love with chunky knitting in T-Shirt yarn, probably because I am impatient and like how quickly your design appears before your eyes. I'm always looking to create something out of the ordinary, which is how I came up with my T-shirt yarn baskets. They are my own pattern, and I've knitted them in a whole range of sizes from 'mini desk pot' to 'large bathroom organiser'.
You can regularly find me teaching Calligraphy workshops, writing Wedding stationery or drinking tea and packing orders in my brand new garden studio.
