Three Generations of Light: A Family’s Handmade Paper Lamp Journey
In our family, light has always been more than illumination—it has been tradition, memory, and art. For three generations, we have been crafting paper lamps by hand, carefully folding, shaping, and bringing to life designs that reflect calm beauty and timeless simplicity.
The shop is now led by a daughter and granddaughter of the family, a woman who once studied abroad but felt the pull of home and heritage. After years away, she returned, carrying with her both new perspectives and a deep respect for the craft passed down to her.
Lanterns have a history of more than 2,000 years, tracing back to the Western Han Dynasty. Traditionally, they featured paper or silk exteriors and frames crafted from bamboo or wooden strips. Each lantern was—and still is—meticulously handmade through time-honored techniques: preparing bamboo strips, drying, hand-assembling the frame, wrapping and reinforcing with bamboo, applying glue, pasting paper, and carefully drying. This intricate process requires patience and craftsmanship, making every lantern a labor of devotion.
At Inblissy, each lantern is more than just a light source—it is a work of art. Handcrafted by skilled artisans, our lanterns allow the warm glow to pass gently through handmade paper and bamboo frames. The design embodies both minimalism and Japanese aesthetics, creating a calming atmosphere for apartments, bedrooms, living rooms, or studios.
Like a gentle evening breeze at sunset, Inblissy lanterns capture a fleeting yet poetic beauty. With just one lantern, you can transform any space into a warm and tranquil sanctuary.
