This is a great textbook for beginner Japanese. The emphasis is on pronunciation and grammar. I’m particularly impressed with the grammar diagrams included at the back of the book. All 16 chapters are in kana only, no kanji introduced, so the focus is on proper pronunciation. Although kanji is listed in the dictionary section for reference. The ~100 page dictionary section is sorted by parts of speech and gives appropriate helpful guidance accordingly.
