KhamsaDesign fue fundada por Mehdi en Rabat, Marruecos, en marzo de 2017. La empresa es la culminación de los esfuerzos de su fundador por ofrecer la mejor selección de alfombras marroquíes modernas, auténticas y únicas.
Los orígenes bereberes de Mehdi y la rica herencia textil de su familia lo inspiraron a explorar este campo. Al crecer, estuvo profundamente influenciado por el arte y la artesanía de su madre y su abuela, ambas expertas tejedoras. Su dedicación a preservar las técnicas tradicionales de tejido bereber despertó el deseo de Mehdi de compartir esta herencia ancestral con el mundo.
Durante un viaje de mochilero a las montañas del Alto Atlas, Mehdi fue testigo de las difíciles condiciones de vida de pequeñas familias en zonas remotas que se ganaban la vida tejiendo alfombras hermosas y únicas. Esta experiencia encendió su espíritu emprendedor y imaginó darle al mundo acceso a estas exquisitas obras de arte.

KhamsaDesign was founded by Mehdi in Rabat, Morocco, in March 2017. The company is the culmination of its founder's efforts to offer the finest selection of a la mode, authentic, and one-of-a-kind Moroccan rugs.
Mehdi's Berber origins and his family's rich weaving heritage inspired him to explore this field. Growing up, he was deeply influenced by the artistry and craftsmanship of his mother and grandmother, both skilled weavers. Their dedication to preserving traditional Berber weaving techniques sparked Mehdi's desire to share this ancestral heritage with the world.
During a backpacking trip to the High Atlas Mountains, Mehdi witnessed the challenging living conditions of small families in remote areas who made a living by weaving beautiful, unique rugs. This experience ignited his entrepreneurial spirit, and he envisioned giving the world access to these exquisite works of art.
Mehdi traveled extensively across the Atlas Mountains, spending months in villages where rugs are handwoven. He immersed himself in the entire process, from conceptualizing designs to weaving the final thread. His dedication and passion led him to create KhamsaDesign, a company that honors and promotes the rich cultural heritage of Moroccan rug weaving.
A KhamsaDesign rug is a unique piece of handwoven art and a reflection of its weaver’s artistry and savoir-faire. Made from the purest, locally sourced materials, such as Atlas Mountain sheep wool, and crafted according to ancient, traditional weaving techniques, each rug is infused with a sense of history and designed with unique simplicity.
