Ich war mit meinem Mann Danny ("der Gitarrenbauer") auf einem sehr langen Roadtrip und eine unserer Stationen war sein Holzlieferant. Im Auto hatten wir ein langes Gespräch über die Hölzer, die er benutzte und warum sie einzigartig und besonders waren. Ich trage zufällig ein handgefertigtes Holzarmband aus Costa Rica und Danny sagte: "Das könntest du machen". Er hatte Kisten und Kisten mit Altholz, die er nicht einfach wegwerfen oder verbrennen konnte, weil es zu speziell war.... K Schrott war geboren.
Zu der Zeit arbeitete ich für eine gemeinnützige Umweltorganisation und der Schutz unserer Umwelt war mir immer wichtig. Ich liebe den Prozess des "Upcyclings" und zeige den Leuten, dass wir wirklich zu viel Zeug rausschmeißen.
Ich habe jetzt einen endlosen Haufen Fetzen zur Auswahl und den besten Holzbearbeitungslehrer (er ist ziemlich einfach für die Augen ;)).
Alle K-Fetzen werden von den Holzresten des kundenspezifischen Gitarrenherstellers Koentopp Guitars handgefertigt. K-Schrott wird auf einem upgecycelten, gestempelten Kartonträger präsentiert und in wiederverwendetes Seidenpapier und Band eingewickelt.
I was on a very long road trip with my husband, Danny ("the guitar maker") and one of our stops was his wood supplier. In the car, we had a long conversation about the woods he used and why they were unique and special. I happen to be wearing a handmade wooden bracelet from Costa Rica and Danny said "you could make that". He had boxes and boxes of scrap wood that he couldn't just throw out or burn because it was too special.... K scraps was born.
At the time I was working for a non-profit environmental organization and protecting our environmental has always been important to me. I love the process of "upcycling" and showing people that we really throw out too much stuff.
I now have an endless pile of scraps to choose from and the best woodworking teacher around (he's pretty easy on the eyes too ;)).
All K scraps are handmade from the wood remnants of custom guitar maker, Koentopp Guitars. K scraps are presented on an upcycled, stamped cardboard backing and wrapped in reused tissue paper and ribbon.
