Laura Spring, originaria de Staffordshire, es una diseñadora / fabricante textil que vive y trabaja en Glasgow creando diseños de impresión gráfica audaces que se transforman a través de la serigrafía y la impresión digital en accesorios de moda, artículos para el hogar y papelería. Se graduó de la Escuela de Arte de Glasgow, donde recibió una licenciatura en diseño gráfico en 2002. Siempre prefiriendo "hacer", Laura comenzó a trabajar en varios departamentos de vestuario dentro de la industria del teatro y el cine después de graduarse. Sin embargo, a finales de 2011, después de una residencia artesanal de verano en Cove Park, Escocia, Laura estableció su propia marca homónima y estudio de impresión en el corazón de Glasgow y llevó su primera colección a Londres para exhibirla como parte de la exhibición 'Spotted' de Charlotte Abraham en Top Drawer.
Con un enorme amor por el color, la impresión, el patrón y el proceso, Laura tiene como objetivo crear productos y diseños basados en estos ideales. Patrones audaces mezclados con colores brillantes transformados en productos bellamente elaborados sustentan el trabajo de Laura. La inspiración cambia de colección en colección, pero el trabajo anterior se ha centrado en la relación entre el motivo y la función y, más recientemente, el camuflaje de la naturaleza.
Aquí en Laura Spring creemos en mantener el 100% de nuestra producción dentro del Reino Unido y tenemos mucho cuidado de garantizar que todos nuestros productos se fabriquen con los más altos estándares.
Nuestros productos serigrafiados se imprimen a mano internamente en nuestro estudio con sede en Glasgow utilizando las mejores materias primas. Con sede en un antiguo aserradero, nuestro estudio es el hogar de una amplia gama de personas creativas y nos encanta trabajar desde aquí. Imprimimos la tela a mano en nuestra mesa de impresión tradicional utilizando tintas a base de agua que curan aquí en el estudio.
Además de trabajar en sus propias colecciones, a Laura le gusta colaborar con otros artistas / diseñadores y compañías en varios campos. Ha trabajado con las artistas Laura Aldridge y Ciara Phillips para producir gamas de bolsas de edición limitada para House of Voltaire 2012 y 2014 respectivamente. También ha producido ediciones limitadas para Lush Cosmetics, Belle & Sebastian, The National Trust for Scotland, Not Another Bill y actualmente está trabajando en un emocionante proyecto llamado India Street, comisariado por Katy West. Esto llevó a Laura y otros tres diseñadores con sede en Escocia a un viaje de investigación de dos semanas a la India en febrero de 2015 para desarrollar diseños y prototipos para la siguiente fase del proyecto inspirado en el Archivo Rojo de Turquía en el Museo Nacional de Edimburgo. Esto se lanzará en Tramway en Glasgow en junio de 2016.

Laura Spring, originally from Staffordshire, is a textile designer/maker living and working in Glasgow creating bold graphic print designs that are transformed through screen and digital print into fashion accessories, homeware and stationery. She is a graduate of Glasgow School of Art where she was awarded a BA in graphic design in 2002. Always preferring to ‘make’, Laura began working in various costume departments within the theatre and film industry after graduation. However in late 2011 after a summer craft residency at Cove Park, Scotland, Laura established her own eponymous label and print studio in the heart of Glasgow and took her first collection to London to exhibit as part of Charlotte Abraham’s ‘Spotted’ showcase at Top Drawer.
With an enormous love for colour, print, pattern and process, Laura aims to create products and designs based around these ideals. Bold patterns mixed with bright colours transformed into beautifully crafted products underpin Laura’s work. Inspiration changes from collection to collection but past work has centred around the relationship between motif and function and most recently, Nature’s Camouflage.
Here at Laura Spring we believe in keeping 100% of our production within the UK and we take great care to ensure all our products are manufactured to the highest standards.
Our screen printed products are hand printed in-house at our Glasgow based studio using the finest raw materials. Based in an old sawmill, our studio is home to a diverse range of creative people and we love working from here. We print the fabric by hand on our traditional printing table using water-based inks that cure here in the studio.
In addition to working on her own collections, Laura enjoys collaborating with other artists/designers and companies across various fields. She has worked with artists Laura Aldridge and Ciara Phillips to produce limited edition ranges of bags for House of Voltaire 2012 and 2014 respectively. She has also produced limited editions for Lush Cosmetics, Belle & Sebastian, The National Trust for Scotland, Not Another Bill and is currently working on an exciting project called India Street, curated by Katy West. This took Laura and three other Scottish-based designers on a two-week research trip to India in February 2015 to develop designs and prototypes for the next phase of the project inspired by the Turkey Red Archive in Edinburgh’s National Museum. This is due to launch at Tramway in Glasgow in June 2016.
Laura exhibits at trade shows regularly both here in the UK and internationally and has her work stocked in a small selection of shops and galleries throughout the world.
