Exploring Identity and Connection Through Creation
Criarse en Muskoka, una popular zona rural y turística de Canadá, le ha enseñado a Laurie a apreciar la belleza de la simplicidad y la naturaleza que se refleja en sus diseños. El amor por la zona hizo que Laurie y su esposo Scott decidieran permanecer arraigados en su ciudad natal y criar a sus dos maravillosas hijas rodeados del paisaje y la familia que aman.
Adoptada al nacer por una maravillosa y amorosa familia en el norte de Ontario, Canadá, Laurie se reconectó con su padre biológico cuando era una joven adulta y descubrió una parte orgullosa de su herencia cultural con raíces en las comunidades Cree e italiana.
Laurie ha comenzado a explorar estas raíces a través de su trabajo con la esperanza de sumar su voz a una historia compleja y al mismo tiempo honrar y respetar las voces de aquellos con experiencias vividas como indígenas.
Laurie, que trabaja como pequeña empresaria unipersonal, está orgullosa de tener clientes de 58 países y le encanta saber que sus piezas se usan a diario en todo el mundo.
Como padre, comprendo las prioridades y los desafíos de las familias con presupuesto limitado. Por eso, siempre me aseguro de que mi trabajo tenga un estilo atractivo y sea asequible para adaptarse al estilo de vida de mis clientes.
Me encanta escuchar las palabras que la gente usa para describir mi trabajo: paz, calma, sencillez, quietud, belleza... Palabras e ideas maravillosas que me hacen sonreír cada vez que las escucho. Palabras que a la vida le vendría bien un toque más especial.
Growing up in Muskoka, a popular cottage and resort area of Canada, has given Laurie an appreciation for the beauty in simplicity and nature that shows in her designs. Love for the area had Laurie and her husband Scott chose to stay rooted in their hometown and raise two wonderful daughters surrounded by the landscape and family that they love.
Adopted at birth into a wonderful and loving family in Northern Ontario Canada, Laurie reconnected with her birth father as a young adult and discovered a proud part of her cultural heritage with roots in Cree and Italian communities.
Laurie has begun to explore these roots through her work with the hopes of adding her voice to a complex history while honouring and respecting the voices of those with lived Indigenous experiences.
Working as a one woman small business, Laurie is proud to have clients from 58 countries and loves knowing her pieces are worn daily around the world.
