Gebt mir eine gute Buchhandlung, eine Bibliothek oder ehrlich gesagt einfach nur ein Café mit Fenster, und ich verliere mich stundenlang in meinem Skizzenbuch. Ich bin eine kolumbianische Illustratorin, die derzeit in den USA lebt, und ja … ich besitze mehr Bücher, als ich jemals lesen werde. Ich sehe das nicht als Problem.
Ich bin für Kunst in jeder Form leicht zu begeistern und habe eine besondere Schwäche für Tiere, Pflanzen und die wundersamen kleinen Welten, die die Natur von selbst erschafft. Das ist im Grunde die Grundlage all meiner Zeichnungen: Bücher, Natur und Geschöpfe, die eine eigene Persönlichkeit zu haben scheinen, selbst jene mit Wurzeln statt Beinen.
Manche Stücke landen an der Wand eines Kinderzimmers, andere neben einem geliebten Bücherregal – ich hoffe jedenfalls, dass sie überall, wo sie ihren Platz finden, ein wenig Freude und Wärme bringen.
Give me a good bookstore, a library, or honestly just a café with a window, and I'll disappear into a sketchbook for hours. I'm a Colombian illustrator currently living in the U.S., and yes... I own more books than I'll ever have time to read. I don't see that as a problem.
I get a little too excited about art in any form, and I have a real soft spot for animals, plants, and the strange little worlds nature builds on its own. That's basically the whole recipe behind everything I draw: books plus nature plus creatures that feel like they have their own personalities, even the ones with roots instead of legs.
Some pieces here end up on a nursery wall, others next to a well-loved bookshelf, either way, I hope they bring a little joy and warmth to wherever they land.
