Ciao, mi chiamo Minnie e benvenuto a Minnie's Homemade Crafts!

Realizzo principalmente vestiti per neonati e bambini perché ho sempre desiderato avere la mia boutique sin da quando ero molto giovane. Ho iniziato a disegnare tutti questi grandi abiti con i miei amici alle elementari e sono sempre stata creativa e ispirata a fare qualcosa. Mi è piaciuto molto andare al grande negozio di artigianato con mia madre e ho la mia creatività da lei perché è molto talentuosa quando si tratta di decorare torte. Sono anche deliziosi! Mi ha anche cucito a mano un bel bunting con il mio nome sopra. L'ho ancora riattaccato.

Quando ho iniziato la scuola secondaria le mie materie preferite erano i tessuti e la P.E, dato che sono anche una persona molto attiva. Era la prima volta che usavo una macchina da cucire (11 anni). La prima cosa che ho fatto è stata una fodera per cuscini e diciamo solo che non era molto carina. Ricordo che non ero molto brava a cucire a mano e quando la mia insegnante lo vide disse "Spero che tu non prenda tessuti per GCSE!". L'anno successivo ho scelto i tessuti per uno dei miei GCSE........

Ogni anno la scuola ha fatto una sfilata di moda per gli studenti GCSE e un anno ho fatto un romper di 2 anni per le mie sorelle amici figlio. Ho finito il romper ed ero così orgoglioso di esso. Era un gingham blu con nuvole di pile e una tasca nel mezzo con un sole su di esso. Poi il ragazzo per cui l'ho fatto si è ritirato dalla sfilata di moda ed ero in preda al panico perché non conoscevo altre piccole persone. Alla fine mia figlia insegnante ha dovuto indossarlo. Dato che mancavano ancora un paio di settimane alla sfilata, ho pensato di fare qualcos'altro. Ho trovato un tutorial su YouTube su come fare una coperta e ho trovato del tessuto davvero carino nell'armadio dei tessuti con cani Scottie su di esso. Questa è stata la prima cosa che ho fatto senza alcun aiuto e ne ero così orgoglioso. Mia mamma l'ha adorato e l'abbiamo regalato a mia nonna.

Mia madre ha notato che amavo cucire e mi ha comprato una macchina da cucire di seconda mano da eBay. Io, mamma e mio padre siamo andati a fare un viaggio di 1 ora per raccogliere la macchina da cucire ed ero così eccitato. Ed è così che ho ottenuto il mio primo cantante. Lo uso ancora ora insieme a un overlocker cantante.

Ho dovuto lasciare la mia scuola secondaria solo pochi mesi prima degli esami GCSE a causa del bullismo. Era troppo tardi per unirmi a un'altra scuola, quindi sono stato istruito a casa e non ho potuto prendere i miei GCSE. Ma questo non mi ha impedito di perseguire il mio sogno di essere un imprenditore della mia attività di abbigliamento da cucito. Mi sono autodidatta sempre di più tecniche di cucito e ho imparato tanto dal web. Sto ancora imparando molte cose nuove oggi.

Hi, my name is Minnie and welcome to Minnie’s Homemade Crafts!

I mainly make baby and children clothes because I’ve always wanted to have my own boutique ever since I was really young. I started designing all these big fancy dresses with my friends in primary school and I’ve always been creative and inspired to make something. I loved going to the big craft shop with my mum and I get my creativity from her because she is very talented when it comes to decorating cakes. They are delicious too! She also hand stitched me pretty bunting with my name on it. I still have it now hung up.

When I started secondary school my favourite subjects were textiles and P.E, as I am also a very active person. This was the first time I had ever used a sewing machine (11 years old). The first thing I ever made was a cushion cover and let’s just say it wasn’t very pretty. I remember I wasn’t very good at hand stitching and when my teacher saw it she said “I hope you don’t take textiles for GCSEs!”. The next year I chose textiles for one of my GCSEs........

Every year the school did a fashion show for the GCSE students and one year I made a 2 year old boys romper for my sisters friends son. I finished the romper and was so proud of it. It was blue gingham with fleece clouds and a pocket in the middle with a sunshine on it. Then the boy I made it for backed out of the fashion show and I was panicking because I didn’t know any other little people. In the end my teachers daughter had to wear it. As we still had a couple weeks left until the fashion show I thought I would make something else. I found a tutorial on YouTube on how to make a blanket and I found some really nice fabric in the textiles cupboard with Scottie dogs on it. This was the first ever thing I made without any help and I was so proud of it. My mum loved it and we gave it to my grandma as a gift.

My mum noticed that I loved sewing and she bought me a second hand sewing machine from eBay. Me, mum and my dad went on a 1 hour drive to collect the sewing machine and I was so excited. And that’s how I got my first singer. I still use it now along with a singer overlocker.

I had to leave my secondary only months before the GCSE exams due to being bullied. It was too late to join another school so I was homeschooled and couldn’t take my GCSEs. But that didn’t stop me from pursuing my dream of being an entrepreneur of my own sewing clothing business. I self taught myself more and more techniques of sewing and learnt so much from the web. I’m still learning lots of new things today.
