Una vez que la casa se tranquilizó, empecé a buscar mi "segunda parte". Hacía años que los niños no estaban en casa, y aunque siempre me ha gustado coser y crear, me di cuenta de que por fin había llegado el momento de explorar esa parte de mí que ama dibujar y crear arte.
Casi todas las tardes me encuentras sentada al aire libre bajo el sol de Florida con un vaso de agua con gas y limón a mi lado, dibujando pétalos, hojas y pequeñas bellotas, viendo adónde me lleva cada storyboard. Crear estos patrones se siente como hacer una colcha; cada diseño está conectado y tiene un significado propio y tranquilo.
Este pequeño negocio de arte se ha convertido en un verdadero regalo. Me permite pasar días tranquilos haciendo lo que me apasiona y me da la libertad de estar con mis nietos a menudo, porque he aprendido que las mejores historias no son solo las que pinto, sino las que vivo cada día.
Once the house got quieter, I began looking for my “part two.” It had been years since the kids were home, and while I’ve always enjoyed sewing and creating, I realized it was finally time to explore the part of me that loves to draw and make art.
Most afternoons, you’ll find me sitting outside under the Florida sun with a glass of sparkling lemon water by my side, sketching petals, leaves, and little acorns – seeing where each story board takes me. Creating these patterns feels like making a quilt, each design connected and meaningful in its own quiet way.
This little art business has become such a gift. It lets me spend peaceful days doing what I love, and it gives me the freedom to be with my grandchildren often – because I’ve learned that the best stories aren’t just the ones I paint, but the ones I get to live every day.
