Comencé a hacer joyas hace unos 15 años, cuando mi hija era pequeña y buscaba un pasatiempo tranquilo en el que pudiera trabajar sin molestarla. Como a mucha gente en todo el mundo, desde hace milenios (los primeros indicios de la fabricación de joyas datan del antiguo Egipto, alrededor del 3000 a. C.), ¡me encantan las joyas! Y creo que una bonita joya hecha a mano siempre es un regalo especial, ya sea para uno mismo, para un amigo o para un familiar. Me gusta especialmente usar materiales que encuentro durante mis vacaciones, como piedras naturales del lugar que visitamos: ámbar de la región del Mar Báltico o cuentas de coral de Italia. También me gusta usar plata de ley auténtica o cuentas bañadas en oro, para añadir un toque de calidad y durabilidad; considero que las joyas son algo que, con el cuidado adecuado, durará mucho tiempo.
Últimamente, he estado diseñando cuentas con letras exclusivas. Me encanta usar joyas con un mensaje, pero la tipografía de las cuentas en mayúsculas que se vendían por todas partes me parecía aburrida. Así que encargué mis propias cuentas, ¡y ha sido toda una aventura! Y ahora estoy diseñando dos tipografías exclusivas más. ¡Qué divertido!
Antes me dedicaba al scrapbooking, pero con la llegada de las fotos y los álbumes digitales, ya no lo practico. Si ya me han hecho algún pedido, seguramente habrán notado que sigo dándoles uso a los miles de hojas de papel que me sobraron de aquella época. Las uso para darles un toque de color a mis paquetes de cuentas y también para darles soporte. Además, me encanta reciclar y no desperdiciar nada.

I got started making jewelry about 15 years ago, when my daughter was an infant, and I wanted a quiet hobby that I could work on without disturbing her. Like people all around the world, for millenia (the first signs of jewelry making were from ancient Egypt around 3,000 BC), I love jewelry! And I think a piece of nice, handmade jewelry always makes a special gift - whether it is for yourself, or for a friend or family member. I especially like using things that I find when I am on vacation, such as stones that are natural to the place we are visiting - amber from the Baltic Sea region, or coral beads from Italy. I also like to use real sterling silver or gold filled beads, to add a touch of quality and endurance; I view jewelry as something that will hopefully last a long time, if you take good care of it.
Lately, I have been designing exclusive alphabet beads. It is so fun to wear jewelry that has a message, but I found the font of the uppercase beads that were available everywhere to be boring. So I had my own beads made, and it has been quite the adventure! And now I am in the process of designing two more exclusive fonts. So fun!
I used to be a scrapbooker, but with the new age of digital photos and digital photobooks, I no longer scrapbook. For those of you who have already ordered from me, you have likely noticed that I still find a use for all of the thousands of pieces of scrapbook paper that I have left over from those scrapbooking days! I use my paper to give my bead packs some whimsical color, as well as some support. I am also all about recycling and not wasting.
I love selling on Etsy, because it has allowed me to connect with people literally all over the world, and to hear about their projects or special events, and to help them celebrate.
