Het verhaal van Rustic Remnants gaat decennia terug. Het begon als een familiebedrijf in Istanbul. Cemal Deregözü, de oprichter, begon zijn carrière in de Grote Bazaar (Kapalı Çarşı), een van de oudste markten ter wereld, gelegen in het historische hart van Istanbul. Hij werd opgeleid door meesters in traditioneel vakmanschap in de tapijtproductie.
Na jarenlange ervaring in het vak besloot hij zijn eigen bedrijf op te richten om zijn 25 jaar aan kennis en expertise te weerspiegelen. Momenteel is hij, als manager van Rustic Remnants, betrokken bij alle fasen – van productie tot ontwerp – en houdt hij toezicht op het volledige verkoopproces, van detailhandel tot groothandel.
Tegenwoordig is Rustic Remnants uitgegroeid tot meer dan alleen tapijten: het biedt ook authentieke Turkse vintage tapijten, overgeverfde Oushak-tapijten, etnische kelims en henneptextiel, rustieke houten planken en antieke kleipotten. Elk stuk wordt zorgvuldig ingekocht uit dorpen in heel Turkije en draagt geschiedenis, traditie en tijdloos vakmanschap met zich mee.
Onder zijn leiding willen wij bij Rustic Remnants onze passie met de wereld delen. Onze unieke collectie wordt nu met trots verkocht in de VS, het Verenigd Koninkrijk en heel Europa.
Step by step Rustic Remnants:
The story of Rustic Remnants goes back decades. It started as a family business in the city of Istanbul. Cemal Deregözü, the founder, began his career in the Grand Bazaar (Kapalı Çarşı), one of the oldest markets in the world, located in the historic heart of Istanbul. He was trained by masters of traditional craftsmanship in carpet production.
After years of experience in the field, he decided to establish his own company to reflect his 25 years of knowledge and expertise. Currently, while managing Rustic Remnants, he takes part in all stages — from manufacturing to design — while overseeing the entire sales process from retail to wholesale.
Today, Rustic Remnants has grown beyond rugs — offering authentic Turkish vintage rugs, overdyed Oushak carpets, ethnic kilims & hemp textiles, rustic wooden boards, and antique village clay jars. Each piece is carefully sourced from villages across Turkey, carrying history, tradition, and timeless craftsmanship.
Under his leadership, we at Rustic Remnants aim to share our passion with the world. Our unique collection is now proudly sold in the U.S., the U.K., and throughout Europe.
