¡Hola! Me gustaría compartir un poco sobre quién soy y lo que hago. Primero, soy mamá de 2 niños maravillosos. Bodie, el bebé, tiene menos de 2 años y Arlo tiene 6. Trabajo a tiempo completo en una empresa que fabrica dispositivos de rehabilitación médica (del tipo que te arreglan el brazo después de un terrible accidente) y mi esposo es profesor de matemáticas e informática en la escuela secundaria. .

Inicié la tienda y nuestra tienda hermana, Sour Patch Apparel (For Mamas), para ayudar a complementar los costos de criar a nuestra familia de una manera creativa para que ESTA mamá también obtenga algo de eso. Mi hijo de 6 años fue diagnosticado recientemente con trastorno del espectro autista, y han sido 3 años locos para llegar a este punto. Con la pandemia y su personalidad burbujeante, nos hicieron a un lado y nos saludaron una y otra vez, pero honestamente, nos estábamos ahogando.

Mi pequeño amigo comenzó el jardín de infantes el año pasado y estamos navegando juntos por nuestro nuevo mundo como familia. Sabíamos que el jardín de infantes iba a ser un desafío para Arlo, pero no esperábamos que comenzara a "fugarse", que es cuando un niño se sobrecarga y simplemente se va. Mi pequeño se aburría en clase y tomaba su mochila y simplemente se iba a uno de los salones de 3er grado para poder "aprender cosas más difíciles". Irónicamente, ese comportamiento lo llevó a medio día durante 4 meses mientras lo resolvíamos con el sistema escolar. De hecho, "todavía" estamos resolviendo las cosas con el sistema escolar y necesitamos prepararnos para un futuro que incluye pagar por los servicios de educación y terapia... porque, lamentablemente, ese es el mundo en el que vivimos.

Me inspiran los temas STEM porque a mi pequeño le gustan las ciencias y las matemáticas. Quería proponer algo diferente; algo que no puedes encontrar en ningún otro lugar. Mi esposo y yo diseñamos todo en mi tienda por amor a nuestros niños y por amor a la ciencia y las matemáticas (y también un poco de tecnología). A Arlo le encanta todo lo relacionado con patrones y números y creemos que eso se refleja en nuestra tienda. Bodie, el bebé... le encanta la pizza. Profundamente. Y créeme, ¡hay días en que estamos muy felices por eso!

Hi there! I'd like to share a little about who I am, and what I do. First, I am a mom of 2 amazing boys. Bodie, the baby, is under 2 and Arlo is 6. I work full-time at a company that makes medical rehabilitation devices (the kind that fixes your arm after a terrible accident) and my husband is a high school math and computer science teacher.

I started the shop, and our sister shop, Sour Patch Apparel (For Mamas), to help supplement the costs of raising our family in a creative way so THIS Mama gets something out of it too! My 6-year-old was recently diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, and it has been an insane 3 years getting to this point. With the Pandemic, and his bubbly personality, we were passed aside and waved off over and over again but honestly, we were drowning.

My little dude started Kindergarten last year and we are navigating our new world together as a family. We knew Kindergarten was going to be a challenge for Arlo, but we did not expect him to start "eloping", which is when a child gets overloaded and simply takes off. My little guy would get bored in class and grab his backpack and simply leave and go to one of the 3rd-grade rooms so he could "learn harder things". Ironically, that behavior landed him on half days for 4 months while we worked it out with the school system. In fact, we are "still" working it out with the school system and we need to prepare for a future that includes paying for services in education and therapy... because that is the world we live in unfortunately.

I am inspired by STEM themes because my little guy is into science and math. I wanted to put forth something different; something you can't find everywhere else. My husband and I designed everything in my shop out of love for our boys and out of love for Science and Math (and a little tech too). Arlo just loves everything to do with patterns and numbers and we think that is reflected in our shop. Bodie, the baby... he loves Pizza. Deeply. And believe me, there are days we are soooo happy about that!
